Division 39 Wilmette-Chicago
Ninth Western District

Welcome to the webpage of Division 39 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Ninth Western District. Almost 200 member volunteers are active in 5 flotillas (units), which proudly serve the Northshore part of Chicago. Division 39 Auxiliarists volunteer nearly 3000 hours while conducting boating education classes, safety patrols, homeland security activities, radio Watchstanding, vessel safety checks, marine dealer visits, search and rescue, public relations, administration, environmental protection and much more. During the 2010 boating season, the five Division 39 flotillas performed 1022 Vessel Safety Checks; conducted nearly 100 hours of Boating Safety Education; and engaged in 275 hours of Safety and Regatta Patrols.

Some of our Flotillas meet at municipal facilities, and some have their own building. Regardless of where they meet, all of our flotillas are deeply involved in and committed to supporting the US Coast Guard and the boating public. Division 39 holds its meetings on the first Thursday of the month at the Des Plaines Elks Club. Visitors are always welcome. A listing of meeting dates and times, as well as other activities sponsored by the Division can be found on the Division 39 Calendar page. Information about individual Flotillas can be found on our site, as well as a listing of Division Staff Officers.

As America’s premier volunteer organization, the Coast Guard Auxiliary offers many learning, training, service and fellowship opportunities. As a member, you will benefit from those opportunities and will enjoy the privileges and rewards that come from serving as one of “America’s Volunteer Lifesavers.”

Semper Paratus! Always ready!
